About Christopher Perez
Christopher Perez grew up in Hobe Sound with an artist’s eye. He enjoys sketching as well as photography. His interest in photography began while working at the 6,000 acre Atlantic Ridge State Park where he fell in love with Florida’s landscape. Chris realized he was seeing things that others would never see. He wanted to capture and preserve the pristine vistas and subtle distinctions of the park, so began photographing what was around him. He had a different perspective of the landscape while driving the tractor. One of his first photographs, a flower in the park, titled "Platanus occidentalis" earned him an Award of Merit at the A.E. Backus Museum Juried Exhibition in 2012.
Chris most enjoys taking photographs of open fields, back road pictures depicting the “Old Florida”. He also likes to capture photos of lightning because you never know what the camera will see which creates an element of surprise as well as sunsets and trees. He prefers to shoot black and white focusing on the scene, capturing what is really there without the distraction of color.
One of his goals is to be recognized as one of Florida’s best landscape photographers and looks at the work of Clyde Butcher for inspiration.
